Lady Cobras defeat Franklin County

MEADVILLE – The Wesson Lady Cobras traveled to Franklin County to face the Lady Bulldogs, Thursday night. The Lady Cobras ended up capturing a huge Region 7-3A victory with a final score of 7-2.

Wesson is scheduled to play West Lincoln tonight, if weather permits, at Copiah Lincoln Community College softball field. The junior varsity game time begins at 5 p.m. and varsity actions starts at 6 p.m.

Franklin County will also be in action today, if weather permits, to play the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets in the Loyd Star Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will continue action in the tournament Saturday as they play Loyd Star at 1:30 and Brookhaven at 6:45 p.m.

Wesson 7, Franklin County 2 

The Lady Cobras defeated the Lady Bulldogs for a big 7-2 win in Region 7-3A softball contest.

Wesson took an early lead and played tough defense to keep the Lady Bulldogs from making it across home plate.

Wesson pitcher, Carrie McSweyn averaged one strikeout and one walk. Amber Brinson, Harmoni Ashley, Sabria Green and Shelbi Maxwell all got a single each for the Lady Cobras.

For the Lady Bulldogs, pitcher Emily Smith had three strikeouts and five walks. Top hitter for FCHS was Jamecia Starks with two singles. Macy Brabham, Shelly Case and Sierra Bethley all got a single for the Lady Bulldogs.
