Wolves drop two at No. 1 Hinds

RAYMOND – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolves traveled to Raymond on Wednesday and were swept in a divisional doubleheader by the No. 1 Hinds Eagles.
In game one Co-Lin got a fantastic pitching performance from Shane Brown, but could not overcome strong pitching from the Eagles in a 2-1 loss. In game two the Eagles used 10 hits and four Co-Lin errors to pick up a 10-3 win.
Hinds 2, Co-Lin 1
Brown went eight inning, tossed 103 pitches, and gave up two runs on nine hits. The Simpson Academy product struck out one and walked three.
Co-Lin took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI sac fly by Reed Taylor. Hinds would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth and get the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth.
Derek Martin gained the win for Hinds. He allowed one run over 5.2 innings. Martin struck out three, walked none and surrendered three hits.
Jeremy Moore, Choc Hubbard, and Austin Irby were the only three Wolves to hit safely. Hubbard hit a triple to start the fifth inning and would be the runner who scored on the Taylor sacrifice.
Hinds 10, Co-Lin 3
Hinds took a 5-0 lead after two innings. Co-Lin scored one run apiece in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.
Adrian Brown began the fourth inning with a triple. He then scored on a groundout by Choc Hubbard. Wesley Watts began the fifth inning with a double. He then moved to third base on a wild pitch. Watts scored on a groundout by Austin Irby.
