BC rallies past Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats managed to snap a two-game losing streak after defeating the Enterprise Yellow Jackets 8-3 in baseball action Saturday afternoon at Stan Long Field.
The Bobcats (10-6, 1-3) are scheduled to play Tuesday as they travel to take on the Pelahatchie Chiefs for a big Region 7-1A test. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.
The Jackets (7-10, 4-4) are also scheduled to return to action Tuesday as they look to end a five-game losing streak in Columbia. Enterprise battles East Marion in a big Region 7-2A test. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 8, Enterprise 3
Enterprise and Bogue Chitto baseball fans gathered to Stan Long Field to watch two rival schools battle to break their current losing streak.
In the first inning, the Jackets quickly jumped on the Bobcats to take a 1-0 lead, but Bogue Chitto fought back to tie the contest at 1-all in the bottom of the second inning.
In the top of the third inning, Enterprise recaptured the lead after scoring two runs to take a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the third inning, Bogue Chitto continued their hot hitting streak and scored three runs to claim the first lead of the day at 4-3.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, BC’s offense continued to roll as they plated three more runs to increase their lead to 7-3 and added another run in the six inning to secure the victory.
Nick Parker was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats on the mound with two strikeouts and two walks. Steven Ginn (2K, 1BB) pitched three innings in relief to earn the save.
Reese Brocato suffered the setback on the rubber for the Jackets with two strikeouts and three walks. Landon Gartman (2K, 1BB) and Tanner Waldrop (0K, 2BB) also saw action on the mound in relief.
Rudy Brumfield powered the Bobcats’ offensive attack with a home run and a single. Bo Smithers provided a double and two singles. Joey Elliot contributed three singles. Cameron Price and Brooks Ingles ripped a pair of singles apiece.
Josh Hardin was the top slugger for the Jackets at the plate with a home run and a single. Brady Watts contributed two singles. Hitting safely were Tanner Waldrop and Reese Brocato
