Lady Jackets beat Franklin County

The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets beat the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 7-1 Friday night in Loyd Star’s softball invitational tournament at Jan Smith Delaughter Field.

The Lady Jackets (6-10, 4-4) are scheduled to play Monday if weather permits as they travel to Monticello to take on the Lawrence County Lady Cougars Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:15 p.m.

Carlee Nations provided a solid pitching performance for the Lady Jackets as she threw a no-hitter against Franklin County. Carlee Nations finished with seven strikeouts and two walks.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Jackets exploded in the bottom of the second inning with a four-run surge to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, the Lady Bulldogs managed to break up Enterprise’s bid for a shutout as they push one run across the plate.

Enterprise scored three more runs in the bottom of the third inning to add to their lead at 7-1 and secure the victory.

Emily Wallace took the loss for Franklin County. She lasted just 2 2/3 innings, with five strikeouts, three walks and two allowed runs.

Carly Polk was the offensive leader at the plate for the Lady Jackets with two singles. Carlee Nations, Jana Nations, Brooke Foster, Caley Cangemi and Avery Berch hit safely.
