Wolfpack netters roll past Hinds

RAYMOND – In the last regular season dual match before the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Tournament, the Copiah-Lincoln Community College men’s rolled over the Hinds Community College Eagles 8-1 in tennis action.

The Wolves (7-4) took all of the doubles matches as Dwain Perkins and Will Pennington defeated Aaron Gray and Austin Pevey 8-1 at No. 1, Braxton Hinton and Drake Nelson beat Melvin McNair and Robert Rhett 8-3 at No. 2, and Brandon Nettles and Coleman Carraway blanked Peder Bethea and Jamarcus Burton 8-1 at No. 3.

In singles action, Perkins blanked Gray 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, Pennington defeated Pevey in a tiebreaker 4-6 7-5, 10-5 at No. 2, Nettles defeated McNair 6-4, 6-2 at No 4, Nelson beat Bethea 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, Steve Del Cid defeated Burns 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 and Carraway beat Stevens 6-3, 6-2.

Co-Lin’s only loss came at No. 3 singles as Rhett defeated Co-Lin’s Hinton 6-3, 6-2.

The Wolfpack will play in the MACJC State Tournament April 15 through 18 in Tupelo.
