Funeral Services for Hal Ray Owens are 11 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at River-wood Family Funeral Service and will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at Friendship.

Mr. Owens, 88, of Brookhaven, died April 17, 2015 at his residence. He was born Feb. 19, 1927 to Charles Owens and Selena Mae Tillman Owens. He worked in the oil industry as a field forman, and he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Owens was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, T.C. Owens, Percy Owens, and Thad Owens; sisters, Thelma Owens, Vivian Humpheries and Nannie Mae Flowers.

Survivors are his wife, Doris Owens; son, Hal Anthony Owens and wife, Rebecca, of Bakersfield, California; daughter, Kristina Owens of Brookhaven; sister, Maxie Overbye of Jackson; three grandchildren, Christie Chapman and husband, Bryan, Samantha Purdy and husband, Matt, Alex Hoggard; and four great-grandchildren, Morganne Chapman, Mason Chapman, Benjamin Purdy and Harper Purdy.
