WESSON – The Wesson Cobras hosted the Forest Bearcats Tuesday night for the first game of the best of three series in round two of the Class 3A baseball state playoffs.

The Cobras overpowered the Bearcats to clinch a 10-4 victory in game one.

Wesson will travel to Forest, to take on the Bearcats Thursday night for game two of the state baseball playoffs. Game time is at 7 p.m.

Wesson 10, Forest 4 

The Cobras defeated the Bearcats to clinch game one of the series Tuesday night with a 10-4 victory.

Cobras’ pitcher, Mack Smith, provided dominating performance on the mound to collect the win with 13 strikeouts and two walks.

Smith and Jimmie McQuage powered Wesson’s offensive attack with a three-run home run apiece. Tyler McLeod and Jeremy Smith fueled the fire with two singles each. Other hitters were Ryan Traxler and Max Daughdrill had a single each.

Top fielder for the Cobras was Alex Mooney with six outs on first base.

Bearcats pitcher, Mikell Daniels, took the loss on the rubber for Forest with no strikeouts and three walks. Dylan Shoemaker (3K, 1BB) and Chase Hall (1K, 0BB) also pitched for Forest in relief.

Top hitter for the Bearcats was Tomaz McNair with a two-run home run. Bracklin Bufkin and Steven Means hit a double each. Landen Cook had a single. Top fielder was Jarod Braggs with five outs on first base.
