The West Lincoln Lady Bears were eliminated for the Class 2A state softball playoffs Wednesday falling to the Lake Lady Hornets 3-1 in game two of the best of three series.

In Tuesday action, the Lake Lady Hornets squeezed past the Lady Bears 3-0 in game one.

The Lady Bears, coached by Andrew Redd, conclude the season with a 15-10 worksheet, while finishing second in the Region 7-2A race with a 8-2 record.

Lake 3, West Lincoln 0 

In game one, the Lady Bears and the Lady Hornets of Lake battled in a scoreless contest until the top of the fifth inning, when Lake managed to push across one run to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Hornets would added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to extend their lead to 3-0 and held on for the victory.

Bryanna Luke was the winning pitcher for Lake with three strikeouts and three walks.

Micah suffered the setback on the rubber for West Lincoln with seven strikeouts and four walks.

Malori Hall, Layton Sills and Micah Redd paced the Lady Bears’ offense with a single each.

Melanie McWilliams, Shelby Blackwell and Bryanna Luke directed the Lady Hornets of Lake offense with a single apiece.

Lake 3, West Lincoln 1 

In game two, the Lake Lady Hornets came out and quickly grabbed a 2-0 in the first inning of action and relied on their tough defense to keep West Lincoln from scoring until the fifth inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Bears managed to break up Lake’s bid for a shutout as they plated one run to cut into the Lady Hornets lead at 2-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Lady Hornets responded by pushing across one run to increase their lead back to an two-run lead at 3-1 and defend off West Lincoln’s attacks to secure the sweep.

Bryanna Luke tossed the win for Lake with no strikeouts and no walks.

Malori Hall absorbed the setback in the circle for West Lincoln with three strikeouts and two walks.

Hall was also the offensive leader at the plate for the Lady Bears with a triple and a single. Hitting safely were Brianna Fauver, Micah Redd and Addie Spring.

McWilliams and Luke were the top hitters for the Lady Hornets with a triple each. Hanna Wilkinson ripped a double and Blackwell had a single.
