Nanih Waiya defeats Bogue Chitto

LOUISVILLE – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats suffered a heartbreaking 6-3 loss Tuesday night to the Nanih Waiya Warriors in game one of the best of three series in Class 1A baseball state playoff action.

The Bobcats will be looking to even to the series Thursday as they host the Nanih Waiya Warriors at Stan Long Field. Game time will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats travel to Louisville to take the Nanih Waiya Warriors, while the Lady Bobcats hosted the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors at home Tuesday.

In baseball action, the Bobcats and the Warriors battles in a scoreless contest until the top of the third inning, when BC plated the first run of the game to take a 1-0 lead.

Nanih Waiya managed to tie the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, before taking over the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with a four-run surge to lead 5-1.

In the top of the sixth inning, Bogue Chitto rallied back and cut into Nanih Waiya’s lead at 5-3 after scoring two runs. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Warriors plated one run to increase their lead to 6-3 over the Bobcats and held on for the win.

Steven Ginn suffered the setback on the mound for the Bobcats with five strikeouts and one walk.

Ben Cumberland was the winning pitcher for Nanih Waiya with six strikeouts and one walk.

Tucker Lambert was the offensive leader at the plate for BC with three singles. Brooks Ingle contributed a double and a single. Nick Parker and Steven Ginn provided a pair of singles. Grant Leake, Joey Elliot and Cameron Price hit safely.

Wyatt Ball powered the Warriors offense with a home run. Isaiah Eiland contributed three singles, Peyton Jones, Garrett Miles and Cumberland provided a pair of singles apiece. Dalton Luke and Taylor Robinson hit safely.
