BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats came out determined to even the series Thursday night, but the Nanih Waiya Warriors had other plans.

The Warriors ended up defeating the Bobcats 13-6 in game two to complete the sweep in the second round of the Class 1A State Baseball Playoffs at Stan Long Field.

The Bobcats, coached by Tony Davis, wrapped up the season with an 18-10 record overall and posted a 4-4 record in Region 7-1A action to finish second in the division race.

Nanih Waiya 13, Bogue Chitto 6 

After a scoreless first inning of action, the Bobcats managed to get their offense going in the bottom of the second inning and scored three runs to take a early 3-0 lead.

The Warriors would quickly answer BC’s challenge in the top of the third inning as they plated four runs to take the lead at 4-3 and held the Bobcats scoreless in the bottom half.

In the top of the fourth inning, Nanih Waiya continued their strong hitting and increased their lead by four more runs to secure an 8-3 advantage.

The Warriors added another four-run surge in the top of the sixth inning and scored one more run in the top of the seventh inning to take a commanding 13-3 lead.

Bogue Chitto managed to end their long cold streak in the bottom of the seventh inning as they rallied to score three runs, but Nanih Waiya’s large lead was too much to overcome.

Nick Parker suffered the setback on the mound for the Bobcats with five strikeouts and three walks.

Brady Jones tossed the win for Nanih Waiya with two strikeouts and three walks.

Steven Ginn was the top offensive leader at the plate for BC with a double and a single. Tucker Lambert contributed two singles. Brooks Ingle provided a double. Hitting safely were Nick Parker, Bo Smithers, Rudy Brumfield and Grant Leake.

Garrett Mile and Gentry Hodges directed the Warriors’ offensive surge with three singles apiece. Isaiah Eiland and Brady Jones provided a double and a single each. Peyton Jones, Ben Cumberland and Wyatt Ball ripped a pair of singles each. Dalton Luke hit a single.
