Ole Brook tennis in State Individual action, Monday

DAILY LEADER / APRIL CLOPTON / Brookhaven will have 10 individual tennis players searching for gold Monday in the Class 5A Individual State Tournament at Ridgeland Tennis Center. The Brookhaven tennis team will have 10 individual players competing in the MHSAA Class 5A Individual State Tournament at Ridgeland Tennis Center Monday, May 11 through Wednesday, May 13.

Singles competition will begin on Monday with Madison Currie, No. 3 seed, facing her first round opponent from Saltillo at 2 p.m. Madison has signed a tennis scholarship with Jones County Junior College.

Jacob Bozeman, also seeded No. 3, will face a first-round opponent from Wayne County at 1:30. Jacob has signed a tennis scholarship with JUCO men’s tennis state champions, Itawamba Community College.

Brookhaven’s No. 1 girls’ doubles team, Chantel Quarles and Sarah Rice Warren, is the No. 4 seed in the tournament. They will play Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. against a first-round opponent from Clarksdale. Quarles has recently signed a tennis scholarship with Co-Lin Community College.

Brookhaven’s No. 2 girls’ doubles Team, Maddie Odgen and Alice Anne Walker is the No. 6 seed in the tournament. They will play Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. against a first round opponent from George County.

Brookhaven’s No. 1 boys’ doubles team, Will Moak and Daniel Panzica, are placed as the No. 4 seed in the tournament. They will play Tuesday at 8:30 A.M. against a first-round opponent from Lewisburg.

Brookhaven’s mixed doubles team, Caleb Owens and Jamie Sproles, are ranked as the No. 7 seed in tournament action. They will face a first-round opponent from Lewisburg on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
