Funeral services for Marshall Gayra James will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at Pleasant Grove.

Mr. James, 77, of Brookhaven, died May 28, 2015, at his residence. He was born June 3, 1937, to Marshall Brooks James and Stella Mae Foster James.

He served his country in the United States Army, and he was self-employed as a carpenter. Mr. James was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a member of Fair River Masonic Lodge No. 203.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommy James; and sister, Brooksene James Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Beeson James; son, Gayra Lance James and wife, Melissa; daughters, Malisia James Smith and husband, Carl, Marklyn James Dunaway and husband, David, Monicia James Falvey and husband, Tommy; sisters, Ann James Russell and Joyce James Pennington; and 14 grandchildren.
