Memorial services for Mattie Elaine Rutland are Sunday, June 14, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Chapel. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rutland, 77, of Brookhaven, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at Silver Cross Living Center in Brookhaven. She was born in Union Church on July 14, 1936 to Victor Garrett Stephens and Mattie Ivey Stephens.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Petal.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Rutland; parents; great-grandchild, James Wesley Waycaster Jr.; and seven siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Rutland Harvey and husband, James Richard; brother, John Garrett Stephens; sister, Jessie Lynn Locke of Dothan, Alabama; three grandchildren, Jami LeWaire Waycaster and husband, Wesley, of Daphne, Alabama, Erica Jo Lloyd and husband, Ted Lloyd Jr., of Jackson and Rebecca Layne Harvey of Brookhaven; and one great-grandchild, Matti Hamlin Waycaster also of Daphne, Alabama.
