A memorial gathering for James Dewitt Bessonette will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.

Mr. Bessonette, 73, of Brookhaven, died June 15, 2015, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1942, to Malcom Dewitt Bessonette and Annie Ruth Quinn Bessonette.

He was employed as a Sub-Sea Engineer and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Mike Bessonette.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Lofton Bessonette; sons, Adam Lee Bessonette and wife, Sherry, James Dewitt Bessonette II and wife, Robbie; daughters, Judith Colleen Bessonette, Jo Lanell Hobgood, Jacqueline Gail Bessonette, Jill Rae Brown and husband, Michael and Barbara LeAnn Bessonette and fiancé, Danny Perry; brother, Charles Richard Bessonette and wife, Roiann; nine grandchildren, Ken Hobgood and wife, Kirstyn, Tabitha Ratliff and fiancé, Peewee Diggs, Malcom Thor Hobgood, Sawyer Brown, Addison Bessonette, Jamie Bessonette, Markee Jo Langham, Dominic Bessonette and Aidan Bessonette; six great-grandchildren, Ariana Denise Diggs, AuBrianna Rae Diggs, Ainsley Jaide Diggs, Kinley Sage Hobgood, Kortlyn Dewey Hobgood and Hadleigh Olivia Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Camellia Hospice for the care they have shown to James.
