Funeral services for Charles Edward Thomas are 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Big Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service and will resume at Big Springs from 12 p.m. until time of the service on Wednesday.

Mr. Thomas, 65, of Brookhaven, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at his residence. He was born July 3, 1949 to Willie Monroe Thomas Sr. and Marie Givens Thomas.

He was retired from his work as a county mechanic where he worked as the head mechanic. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Shey (Mickey) Thomas; brothers, Roy Thomas, Danny Earl Thomas Sr., Howard Eugene Sykes, Harry Fred Sykes, Wayne Sykes and Ferrell Sykes.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce Thomas; son, Derric Wayne Thomas; daughter, Charlie Mechell Smith; brothers, Willie Thomas Jr. and Harold Thomas; sisters, Nancy Juanita Lambert and Janice Marie Sanders; 11 grandchildren, Joseph Gavin Cannon, Sheylee Grace Thomas, Alyssa Michelle, Emily Paige Thomas, Zachery Derric Thomas, Gabriella Blakley Thomas, Dathan Zane Smith, Keshtin Lee Smith, Makalah Michelle Cantrell, Bradley Tristan Cantrell and Bilie Kaegen Cantrell; his favorite niece, Amy Sanders Hardin; favorite nephew, James Thomas; special friends, Terry Lane Nations and Charles Ray Sanders, Sr.
