Funeral services for Carolyn Murray Thornton are Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Earl Hunsucker will be officiating.

Visitation was Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Meadville and will continue on Thursday, July 16, 2015, from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Mrs. Thornton, 79, of Meadville, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born Sept. 21, 1935 in Franklin County to E.T. Murray and Georgia Evelyn Drake Murray.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and a cosmetologist.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Julius Thornton; one son, Ronald Ed Thornton; and one brother, Ray Eugene Murray.

Survivors are her two sons, Randy (Pat) Thornton and Mark (Millie) Thornton; two daughters, Vanessa (Ronnie) Shelton and Joanna Ashmore; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
