Update: Brookhaven man arrested in Thursday’s fatal shooting

A man is dead and another is in jail following a Thursday night shooting on North Dr. Martin L. King Jr. in Brookhaven.

Police Chief Bobby Bell said Pierre Thomas, of 829 Funches St., 5-27-92, was arrested for the murder of Glen Mack. Thomas was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.

According to police reports, a call of a shooting came in at 11:42 p.m. Bell said the shooting occurred in the Cloverdale area. This is the second fatal shooting in the Cloverdale area this month, after Kelcay Humphrey was shot and killed July 5 at Cloverdale No. 73.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said the victim was pronounced dead at University Medical Center at 5 this morning.

Bell said when responders arrived on the scene, they found the victim shot in the upper leg. Bell said the bullet entered the upper leg, went through and exited through the other leg. He was transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center and then airlifted to Jackson, where he was later pronounced dead.

The incident is the seventh murder in Lincoln County this year — three of those occurred in Brookhaven this month.
