Graveside services for Alfred James Harris are Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Lawrence County with burial in church cemetery. Bro. David Smith will be officiating the services.  Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Harris, 78, of Brookhaven, MS, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 1, 1937, in Brookhaven to Henry Clark and Rena Williams Harris.

Mr. Harris loved shrimping, hunting, fishing and working. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors are his wife of 33 years, Mary Diane Harris; daughters, Brenda Harris and her companion, Allen Westbrook, of Bogue Chitto and Donna M. Smith and her husband, David, of Brookhaven; his sons, Tony Harris and his companion, Donna Howell, of Brookhaven, Kevin Bracey and his wife, Felisha, of Union Church, and Duane Bracey and his wife, Cynthia, of Richland; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Elizabeth Gates of Garland, Texas; his brother, George Harris of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
