The Brookhaven Cross Country team competed in Loyd Star’s Cross Country meet on Saturday and placed second in both the boys and girls 2K run.

The Lady Panthers’ were led by Gracie Gray with a ninth place finish overall. Jordan Fries placed 11th, Abby Roberts finished 20th, Hannah Junkin was 21st, Gracey Massengill at 22nd, Carley Craig at 26th and Leona Smith at 29th.

The Panthers were led by Adrian Lockwood with a fourth-place finish overall. Caleb McCreary placed seventh, Antonio Dillon was ninth, Kariunte Edwards at 16th, Jonas Raguse at 18th, Jacob Britt finished 37th, Andrew Knott at 38th, Tajah Black was 40th and Mason Gardner at 49.

In girls junior varsity action, the Lady Panthers finished in second place. Mary Rhea Waterloo led the pace by finishing third in the event. Bailey Pounds came in fifth place, Zoey Hinton was 10th, Jackie Madison at 11th and Audrey Williamson was 14th, Destiny Jefferson placed 15th, Riley Whittington was 16th, Shantraille Haynes came in at 17th place and Ty’China Byrd was 23rd.

The Panthers junior varsity squad placed fourth in the 2K run. Ethan Autrey was the top runner for Brookhaven as he placed 11th overall, Tre Laird was 17th, Jake Roberson at 19th place, John Michael Chance came in at 20th, James Gardner at 22nd and Samuel Mabile finished 27th.
