Daily Leader / Tracy Fischer / Wesson’s Arie Douglas provides a big hit for her Lady Cobras in Saturday action against Crystal Springs.

WESSON – The Wesson Lady Cobras picked up two big victories in slowpitch softball action.

In Saturday’s contest, the Lady Cobras crushed the Crystal Springs Lady Tigers to claim a big 24-1 win in a three-inning contest.

In Thursday’s action, Wesson walked away with a 7-0 victory over the Pearl Lady Pirates.

The Lady Cobras, coached by Michele Nunnery, will be in action Tuesday as they travel to Florence to take on the Florence Lady Eagles. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15.

Wesson 24, Crystal Springs 1 

Riley Smith was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cobras with two strikeouts and one walk.

Harmoni Ashley powered the Lady Cobras’ offensive attack with a double and two singles; Arie Douglas contributed three singles. Riley Smith provided a triple and a single. Kaitlyn Smith ripped a double and a single. Katie Westbrook had a double. Catherine Wilson and Madison Boleware hit two singles each.

For the Lady Tigers, Nisha Jackson and Morgan Bassett were the only hitters with a single each.

Wesson 7, Pearl 0 

Brooke Jones’ two-run home run in the fourth inning helped the Lady Cobras blank the Lady Wolves.

Amber Brinson was the second leading batter at the plate for Wesson with an two-RBI double. Riley Smith had three singles. Kaitlyn Smith and Katie Westbrook hit a pair of singles. Harmoni Ashley and Catherine Wilson provided a double each.

Wesson’s top defensive players were Harmoni Ashley with eight outs at first base and Arie Douglas with six outs at second base. Brook Jones assisted with five outs at shortstop and fielded two outs.

In junior varsity action,  the Lady Cobras lost 2-0 to the Lady Pirates.

Shaylin Green and Natalie Bonds led the Lady Cobras at the plate with two singles each. Arie Douglas hit a single.
