Funeral services for Phillip Carty will be held at Beauregard United Methodist Church on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at 11 a.m. with burial in the Wesson Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) and Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Phillip Carty died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015. He was born on Oct. 24, 1951, to Buell Roscoe Carty Jr. and Alyce Ray Carty in Brookhaven.0909Carty

Phillip loved the outdoors as he was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. He graduated from Copiah-Lincoln High School where he enjoyed playing football and other sports. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College, Whitworth College and the University of Southern Mississippi. Phillip was formerly employed with Mississippi Power and Light Co. as a lineman and Fountain Electric as an electrician. He was a longtime member of Beauregard United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, C.A Ray Sr. and Pearl Hennington Ray of Wesson; Buell Roscoe Carty Sr. and Hazel Carty of Jackson; and an infant brother at birth.

He is survived by two brothers, Buell Roscoe “Rusty” Carty, III and wife, Billie, of Wesson, and Joseph Staffler Carty and wife, Sherri, of Madison; two nieces, Dr. Leslie Anne Carty of Wesson and Mary Catherine Carty of Madison; and two nephews, Troy Edward “Eddie” Carty of Flowood, and Caleb Alexander Carty of Madison.

The family gives a special thank you to the staff of Gentiva Home Health Care and the staff of the Neuroscience ICU of the Critical Care Hospital in the University of Mississippi Medical Center for their care and compassion.
