Lawrence County (2-1),  under the direction of second-year head coach Jaymie Palmer, defeated their long-time rivals, the Brookhaven Panthers, 55-33 in an offensive showdown at Monticello.

This week, the Cougars prepare to travel east on Hwy. 84 to Prentiss to take on the Bulldogs.

LCHS’ top offensive performer last week against Brookhaven was junior running back Quitten Brown with 17 rushes for 172 yards. Charl’Tez Nunnery completed 3-of-7 passes for 57 yards and rushed 24 yards on seven carries.

Defensively, senior inside linebacker T-Tez Cole had another great night as he was credited with a whopping 22 tackles, six of them for losses, and recovered a fumble.

Last year, Lawrence County edged Prentiss 21-20 in Monticello.

My pick:  The Lawrence County Cougars will prevail over the Prentiss Bulldogs 28-21.
