BA Cougars blank Columbia Academy

The Brookhaven Lady Cougars softball team captured a big division win over the Columbia Academy Lady Cougars 2-0 to stay in the hunt for the MAIS fastpitch softball playoffs Monday night in Columbia.
In Saturday action at the Hansel King Sportsplex, the Lady Cougars secured a split. BA defeated Bowling Green 7-3, but fell to Jackson Prep 3-0.
BA (10-10, 1-4) will be in action today as it hosts the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave for a big division test. The contest is set to begin at 5 p.m.

Allie Summers was the winning pitcher on the rubber for BA as she collected four strikeouts and gave up two walks.
Anna Grace Covington powered BA’s offense with a double and a single. Cameron Watson and Alex Rae Smith ripped a pair of singles.
In junior varsity action, BA knocked off Columbia 7-4.
Emily Claire Felder tossed the win for BA with two strikeouts and two walks. Madi Smith also pitched in relief.
Madi smith powered the Lady Cougars with a grand slam home run. Cameron Watson provided a double.

Summers earned the win on the mound for the Lady Cougars with six strikeouts and no walks.
Anna Grace Covington lead BA at the plate with a double and two singles. Abeni Fuller, Madi Smith and Summers contributed two singles each. Kailyn Jordan, Cameron Watson and Julie Anna Bartram hit safely.

Summers suffered the setback on the mound for the Lady Cougars with six strikeouts and two walks.
Summers was also the offensive leader at the plate with two singles. Cameron Watson had a single.
