Lady Cats cruise past Ethel

ETHEL – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats cruises to an 7-2 victory Thursday night over the Ethel Lady Tigers in slowpitch softball action.
“We did a great job playing on the road,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We made a few mistakes, but played out of them in every inning. This was a tough field to play on but we managed to put together some great innings at the plate.”
The Lady Cats (12-3, 1-0) will resume action Monday as they travel to Liberty to take on the Amite County Lady Trojans. Junior varsity action begin at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 7, Ethel 2
The Lady Cats scored one run in the top of the third inning and relied on their strong defense to keep Ethel scoreless through the first four innings of action.
In the fifth and sixth innings, BC’s offense came alive and managed to put together a string of hits to score three runs in each inning to extend their lead to 7-1.
Ethel scored its last run of the evening in the bottom of the seventh inning as BC cruised to a 7-2 victory.
Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chitto with no strikeouts and two walks.
Erin Watkins absorbed the lost on the mound for Ethel with no strikeouts and five walks.
Christian Black powered the Lady Cats’ offensive attack with a double and a single. Baileigh Jackson contributed two singles. Alana Nettles ripped a triple. Hitting safely were Zariah Matthews, Terrah Nelson, Reagan Kirkland, Codi Leggett, Cherie Savoie and Brooke Myers.
Breanna Blaine was the top hitter for the Lady Tigers with two singles. Brooklyn Whitman, Sidney Rome, Avery Bouchillan, Jessica Mitchell, Brooklyn Pitt and Halea Wood hit safely.
In junior varsity action, Bogue Chitto defeated Ethel 8-6.
Stevie Montgomery directed the Lady Cats’ offense with a triple and a single. Destiny Wallace had two singles. Lineka Newson, Alece Nettles, Kayci Beth Wallace and Rainie Welch hit a single each.
