An accident between an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck in Copiah County Monday morning sent both drivers to hospitals, one with serious injuries.

Just before 6 a.m., an 18-wheeler was attempting to cross over MS 27 from the I 55 off ramp when it was struck by a Chevrolet pickup traveling south on MS 27, a spokesman for the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

The 18-wheeler driver was taken to Hardy Wilson Hospital in Hazlehurst and the driver of pick up truck was transported to UMMC with serious injuries. The accident is under investigation.
