Funeral services for Dorothy Loraine Britt are Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery. Bro Chris DeGeorge and Bro. Stuart Givens will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) and will continue Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Mrs. Britt, 87, of Wesson, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Haven Hall Nursing Home in Brookhaven. She was born in Copiah County on May 16, 1928, to Jessie J. Minton and Allie Mae Minton.

Mrs. Britt was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was saved at 12 years of age. She also served there as a Sunday school teacher, helped with vacation Bible school, wife of a deacon (Calvin Britt) and a WMU member. She was retired as a kindergarten teacher at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church and the Potter Company in Wesson. Mrs. Britt was a homemaker and her hobbies included cooking, gardening and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Henry Britt; daughter, Diane Britt Miller; and a son, Baby Boy Britt.

Survivors are her son, Clifford Calvin Britt and wife, Marilyn; grandsons, Van Britt and wife, Kathy, Hillry Britt and wife, Misty, Chris Brister and wife, Jennifer, and Pat Brister and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Alexis Britt, Micah Britt, Kaitlyn Smith, Chase Britt, Caylie Britt, Anna Brister, Gunnar Brister, Conner Brister, Aiden Brister, Matthew Brister, Aniston Brister and Avery Brister; sister, Gloria Minton Ferlita of Florida; brother, Jessie Charles Minton of Wesson; sisters-in-law, Winnifred Lowery and Ethel Mae Britt; and a host of family and friends.

The family would like to give a special “thank you” to the staff and nurses at Haven Hall Nursing Home, Southern Care Hospice, the members at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Sylvarena Baptist Church and to Bro. Chris DeGeorge and Bro. Stuart Givens.
