Lawrence County welcomes Seminary to Monticello

Lawrence County (4-1), under the direction of second-year head coach Jaymie Palmer, captured a huge defensive 30-15 victory over the Franklin County Bulldogs last week in Meadville.

This week, the Cougars return home to celebrate homecoming as they host the Seminary Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs (3-2), coached by Brian Rials, defeated the Raleigh Lions 40-34 in overtime last week.

Javaris Crosby was the top rusher for Seminary with 196 yards on 14 carries. Felix McCullum also had a big night rushing the ball with 124 yards on 22 carries.

Defensively, McCullum led the Bulldogs with 11 tackles. Qvaius Currie provided nine tackles.

LCHS’ top offensive performer last week against Franklin County was junior quarterback Charl-Tez Nunnery. He led the Cougars in passing and rushing, completing 6-of-11 passes for 171 yards and rushing for 130 yards on 24 carries for two touchdowns.

Quitten Brown was the second leading rusher for the Cougars with 12 carries for 60 yards. Kejuan Brown led all LCHS receivers with one catch for 61 yards.

Defensively, T-Tez Cole directed the Cougars with 10 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery returned for a 34-yard touchdown. Azar Myles had eight solo tackles.
