WESSON – The Co-Lin Wolfpack will hit the road for the second time this season as they travel to Decatur to take on the No. 19 ranked East Central Warriors Thursday night. The Wolfpack go into the game ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA poll for the third week consecutive week. East Central Warriors jumped into the No. 19 spot in the poll after receiving votes in the Week 3 poll.

The Warriors, under third year head coach Ken Karcher are entering the match-up after defeating the Holmes Community College Bulldogs 29-14, in a natural site game hosted by Grenada High School. The Warriors lead the Bulldogs from start to finish, rushing for over 300 yards in dominating fashion, led by freshman wide receiver Tredarian Gamble who ended the night 150 yards rushing on 25 carries. East Central (3-1) have shown tremendous improvement this season after going 4-16 in Coach Karcher’s previous two seasons and sent a notice to the rest of the MACJC that they are not a team to be taken lightly. Last year, the Wolves defeated East Central 43-0 behind a stellar special teams performance by current Mississippi State Bulldog Donald Gray who returned two punts for touchdowns in the contest. The Wolfpack hold a 43-29-3 record all-time versus the Warriors.

Co-Lin is coming off a thrilling 29-26 overtime win over rival Southwest. Sophomore running back Lakedric Lee led the Wolfpack’s offensive effort rushing 25 times for 136 yards and three touchdowns. The North Pike High School graduate scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime. Lee leads the Wolfpack in total offensive production with 609 yards and seven touchdowns.

Sophomore place kicker Greg Nickles earned MACJC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after he had a perfect 3-for-3 on PAT and 3-of-4 field goal attempts including a 36-yarder as time expired to tie the game at 23-23 and send it to overtime.

On the other side of the ball, defensive end Paul James III put forth another strong performance as he wrapped up 10 tackles to lead the Wolfpack, including two sacks, bringing his season total to eight, good enough to be ranked second in the nation. In the defensive secondary, sophomores Lashard Durr, Adrian Scott, and freshman Jaquarius Landrews had two pass break-ups each, as the Co-Lin defense grounded Southwest for most of the evening.

Kickoff versus East Central is set for 6:30 p.m. at Warrior Stadium in Deactur. An audio broadcast of the game can be heard on WMJU 104.3 in Brookhaven or at www.colinathletics.com
