Funeral services for Joel Phillip “J.P.” Upton Jr. will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial at Shelton Family Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, from 9 a.m. until time of the services at Riverwood.

Mr. Upton, 35, of Pattison, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in Copiah County. He was born Oct. 25, 1979, to Joel Phillip Upton Sr. and Katie Mae Nix Upton.

He was employed offshore in the oil field industry.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Kattie Nix and Joel F. and Maxine Upton; aunt, Joyce Neal; uncles, Leonard Flip Nix and Larry Nix; and cousins, Michael Wayne Nix and Barry Daniel Nix.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Shelton Upton; sons, Gavin Lee Upton and Trajan Alexander Upton; parents; and one brother, Levi Upton.
