BSW secures a win over Ferriday

The Brookhaven Southern Wildcats captured a win in Saturday’s contest against the Ferriday Trojans in TNT Youth Football League action.
Brookhaven defeated the Ravens 6-2 in the 9-to-10 year-old game. In the 11-to-12 year-old contest, Ferriday shutout BSW 44-0 and edged the Southern Wildcats 12-8 in the 6-to-8 year-old game.
The Wildcats play again Saturday, as they travel to Natchez to take on the Saints. The first game starts at 10 a.m.

Kenneth Dixon was the offensive leader for the Wildcats (3-1) as he sprinted in a 70-yard rushing touchdown.
Defensively, Elijah Calcote paced the Wildcats with 15 tackles. Kermit Sartin contributed seven stops. Nathan Lewis and Eric Williams had six tackles each. Malachi Clark had five tackles. Micah Harris and Kenneth Dixon made three tackles apiece. Javionte Thadison had a fumble recovery and two tackles.
Ferriday 12, BSW 8
Markel Smith led the Wildcats’ offense with 50 yards rushing. Daylan Barton contributed 45 yards on the ground and scored the only touchdown for BSW on a 5-yard run. T.J. Smith punched in the two-point conversion and finished with 21 yards rushing. Zachary Moore provided 31 yards rushing.
Defensively, Markel Smith led with six tackles. Calijah Drake and Barton had three stops each.
