West Lincoln places in top 10 of Watson Ford run

CLINTON – The West Lincoln Bears and Lady Bears finished strong in the Watson Ford cross-country meet at MS College Choctaw Trails Saturday. Over 60 teams and 650 runners participated in eight different races.

The Lady Bears captured seventh place overall in the 5K run, but managed to take home first place among Class 2A schools. The Bears finished in 10th place overall and secured second place in the Class 2A boys’ race.

In the varsity boys 5K run, Jason Watts finished third overall for West Lincoln, but was the first Bears to finish with a time of 17:15. Watts is currently ranked No. 26 in the state. Jordan Montgomery finished with a time of 19:59, Jonathan Mathis at 21:11, Trevor Murray at 23:21 and Keith Burns at 23:57.

In the varsity girls 5K run, Lillianne Rushing was the top runner for the Lady Bears with a time of 24:33. Lexis Leggett finished behind Rushing with a time of 24:54, Georganna Allen at 25:21, Jana Case at 25:36 and Tess Holley at 25:38.

In junior varsity boys 2-mile run, Tiler Castillo finished first for West Lincoln with a time of 13:09. Noah Addison came in second with a time of 14:04, Ashtin Castillo at 14:06, Dakota Springs at 14:47 and Spencer Maxwell at 15:07.

In JV girls 2-mile run, Ashley Tabor was the top runner for the Lady Bears with a time of 15:21. Sara Wilson came second with a time of 17:06, Gracee Warren at 17:31 and Anna Johnson at 20:35.
