“It’s free admission — anyone and everyone welcome,” Easthaven Baptist Church Director of Children’s Ministries Michelle Mayfield said about the church’s Oct. 31 event.
Last year, according to Mayfield, the church’s KidzFest Trunk-or-Treat event drew a crowd of around 2,500. Many churches hold trunk-or-treat events as an alternative for parents to traditional trick-or-treating.
“This is one of the largest outreach events that our church does,” Mayfield said. “We have other activities that go on during the year, but this is our largest event on campus, where we can draw the most people in. Our goal is to give families a safe place to come and have a good time, and also to hear about how much Jesus loves them.”
Somewhere around 20 to 25 trunks will be set up for kids to go through, according to Mayfield, but there will also be other activities.
“They don’t have to necessarily go through those cars first,” Mayfield said. “A lot of people when they go there think they have to go through those trunks first, to get on to the campus. As soon as they get there, they can either stand in line to get through the cars, or they can go straight on to the campus, the front grounds, to go ahead to play the activities. We’ll have inflatables. We’ll also have laser tag, which was a big draw last year.”
Easthaven Baptist Church, located at 130 Hwy. 84, has hosted the event for about 10 years, according to Mayfield. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m.
