Local teams make game changes due to weather

Three local football teams have announced that they will play their opening round of the MHSAA state playoffs on Thursday due to the possible threat of thunderstorms on Friday night.
Lawrence County will host Columbia in Monticello, Franklin County will host St. Andrews in Meadville and Loyd Star will travel to Puckett.
Bogue Chitto has just announced that they will also move their game to Thursday to beat the weather. The Bobcats will host the Springfield, Louisiana based Bulldogs at Troy Smith Field for Senior Night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
In other games of football interest, Hazlehurst has elected to move their games to Thursday. Hazlehurst will host Crystal Springs in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.
In basketball action, West Lincoln has moved its Thursday game against Lawrence County to Friday due to the Cougars’ football game. The Franklin County and Enterprise basketball game scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until a later date.
