Enterprise sweeps Salem

SALEM – The Enterprise Jackets and Lady Jackets secured a sweep in a varsity double-header Thursday night against the Salem Wildcats in Walthall County.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Jackets (2-0) clobbered the Lady Wildcats 50-29.

In boys’ action, the Jackets (1-1) captured their first win of the season after defeating the Wildcats in a shootout 93-73.

Enterprise returns to action Tuesday as it travels to Florence to take on the McLaurin Tigers. Varsity action begins with the girls at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.

Lady Jackets 50, Lady Wildcats 29 

The Lady Jackets came out and quickly took care of business in the first half as they outscored the Lady Wildcats to carry a 30-14 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Enterprise and Salem battled in a evenly matched contest with the Lady Jackets prevailing 20-15 in the last two quarters of action.

“Glad to get the win,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “I am extremely proud of my girls’ effort. They came out and played hard both offensively and defensively.”

Michele Herring and Courtney Greer sparked the Lady Jackets with 10 points apiece. Monisha Pendleton was the leader on the boards with 10 rebounds and scored nine points. Carlee Nations netted eight points, four steals and five assists. Alissa Barlow chipped in with seven points. Haley Nations, Karlee Burgess and Eden Ward scored two points each.

Zoie Bridges was the top scorer for the Lady Wildcats with 14 points. Jasmine Henderson provided a 12-point effort.

Enterprise 93, Salem 73 

Enterprise took command of the first period with a 27-22 lead.

In the second period, the teams continued to light up the scoreboard as the Jackets took a 48-42 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Enterprise outscored Salem 45-31 to earn their first win of the season.

Dewayne Pendleton powered the Jackets’ offensive explosion with 35 points and 10 rebounds, four steals and five assists. J.T. Smith chipped in with 29 points. Cade Feltus contributed 13 points, three rebounds and five steals. Zach Hodges and Austin Carter scored eight points each.

Jalen Toney pumped in a team-high 29 points to lead the Wildcats. Cameron Prince netted 19 points. Jerrian Cowart had 11 points.
