Funeral services for Thomas Pickens Brady Jr. will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at First Baptist Church with burial in the Union Hall Baptist Church cemetery in Brookhaven. Dr. Jeff Doremus will officiate the services, alongside Rev. Greg Warnock, Rev. Dale Linton and Rev. Russ Hightower.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven, with family present until the time of the service.

Mr. Brady, 83, of Brookhaven died in his hometown on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015. He was born to Judge Thomas Pickens and LaVerne (Holmes) Brady on Aug. 31, 1932, in Brookhaven.

He was a resident of Brookhaven for more than 75 years. He was the vice president of Trustmark National Bank of Brookhaven until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was very active in local and state affairs. He was a member of the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of several of its committees. Mr. Brady was also a member of the Brookhaven Kiwanis Club having served as president and Lieutenant Governor, past president of Lincoln County Chapter American Cancer Unit, past president of Southwest Mississippi Chapter Bank Administration Institute, past president of Brookhaven Touchdown Club and Brookhaven Academy Booster Club, served as director and treasurer of United Givers Fund in Lincoln County, served for 10 years as treasurer of Ducks Unlimited Lincoln County Unit, served as co-chairman Adopt-A-School program and served as chairman of State Employment Agency Hire the Handicap for Lincoln County.

He served as Boy Scout Master Troop 119, coached summer league baseball in Dixie Youth and Senior League for over 23 years, served as Dixie Youth Assistant Coach for the Trustmark 11-and 12-year old team, coached pee wee, fifth and sixth grade and junior high football team for 17 years, past chairman of Kiwanis Key Club Committee, helped form Key Clubs at Brookhaven High School and Brookhaven Academy and past chairman of Circle K Committee working with Circle K at Co-Lin. He received Brookhaven Jaycee’s Distinguished Service Award, served as Charity Ball King, past state director of Ole Miss Alumni Association, past president Ole Miss Alumni Lincoln-Lawrence Chapter, past member of Inter Alumni Council representing Ole Miss, past chairman of Ole Miss Admissions Committee Lincoln County, member of Chancellor’s Trust Ole Miss, past member of Whitworth College Fund Raising Committee, past president of the T.P. Brady Class 32nd degree mason and past chairman of Ole Miss Lincoln County Share a Scholar Committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce Holmes Brady; uncles, Tullius and Dalton Brady; and daughter-in-law, Susan Smith Brady.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Summers Brady; three children, Thomas Pickens Brady III of Plano, Texas, Annabelle Brady Covington (John Nelson Covington III) of Oxford and Amanda Brady Cooley (Martin Van Cooley) of Brookhaven; eight grandchildren, Thomas Pickens Brady IV (Sarah Bricco Brady), Elizabeth Huff Manning (Jerry Allen Manning Jr.), Connor Mathis Brady, John Nelson Covington IV, Joshua Nathaniel Covington, Amanda Brady Covington, Christopher Van Cooley and Andrew Jeremy Cooley; great-grandson, Weston Thomas Brady; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the King’s Daughters Foundation, the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the charity of their choice.
