Funeral services for James Glen “J. Glen” Smith were held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Red Star Ward) with burial in the Red Star Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, 74, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at his residence in the Red Star Community. Mr. Smith was born on Sept. 15, 1941 in Lincoln County to James Leroy Smith and Mildred Melissa Kimble Smith.

Mr. Smith was retired from the oil industry where he worked for 50 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Red Star Ward).

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Mattie Lea Smith; daughter, Wendy Newell and husband, Stacey; sons, Ricky Glen Smith and wife, Heather, James Roy Smith and wife, Heather, and Paul Estus Smith, all of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren, Lee Newell, Kristen Haire, Karly Wright, Devan Smith, Austin Lea, Eric Smith, Alex Dake, Jack Smith, Tyler Smith and Lauren Smith; brother, Jimmy Lee Smith and wife, Connie of Brookhaven; and his nieces.
