BA girls defeat Central Hinds; boys fall

RAYMOND – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars defeated Central Hinds 28-20 in MAIS basketball action Saturday.

In boys’ action, BA fell 51-36 to Central Hinds.

In junior high action, BA girls lost 31-22 to Central Hinds. The Cougars of Brookhaven Academy defeated Central Hinds 45-16.

Brookhaven Academy will be in action today as it hosts the Amite School Center Rebels for four games. Action begins at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

BA Lady Cougars 28, Central Hinds 20 

Kailyn Jordan pumped in a game-high 15 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead the Lincoln County-based Lady Cougars. Sissy Byrd chipped in seven points and had four rebounds. Anna-Michael Smith netted four points and had four rebounds. Sophie Wilson scored two points.

Summer Hartley led Central Hinds with eight points. Kendal Lowery provided six points.

Central Hinds 51, BA 36 

Dylan Winborne powered BA with 13 points. Luke Jackson netted seven points and had two rebounds. Austin Smith contributed five points and three rebounds. Tate Felder scored four points. Ethan Nations, Colton Watson and Dawson Flowers had two points each. Ross Felder had one point.

Evan Sprackler directed Central Hinds with 14 points. Peyton Banes chipped in 13 points. Ronald Williams had eight points.

In junior high action,  Central Hinds defeated the BA Lady Cougars 31-22.

Julianna Bartram directed BA’s scorers with nine points. MaKayla Martin had five points.

In the boys’ game, BA crushed Central Hinds 45-16. Tanner Thurman poured in a game-high 19 points to lead BA. Dawson Flowers contributed 10 points.
