Brookhaven Academy swept the Amite School Center Rebels in a pair of MAIS basketball games Tuesday nigh at John R. Gray Gymnasium.

In girls’ action, the Lady Cougars crushed the Lady Rebels 48-31.

In the boys’ contest, the Cougars feasted on the Rebels to collect a 68-35 victory.

BA returns to action Friday as it hosts Simpson Academy for five games. Seventh grade girls’ action begins at 3 p.m., followed by two junior high games and two varsity games.

Lady Cougars 48, Lady Rebels 31 

The Lady Cougars managed to power through a slow start to claim a 20-13 lead at halftime.

In the second half, BA (9-3) outscored ASC 28-18 to collect the win.

Anna Grace Covington powered the Lady Cougars’ offense with 10 points. Shelby Flumm netted nine points. Anna-Michael Smith and Kailyn Jordan chipped in with eight points apiece. Sissy Byrd scored six points and was the leader on the boards with five rebounds. Sophie Wilson, Leah Case and Cameron Watson had two points each. Summer Hill added one point.

Sarah Booty was top scorer for the Lady Rebels with 11 points. Klancie Fair contributed nine points.

BA 68, ASC 35

The Cougars (5-4) destroyed the Rebels early, taking a commanding 38-12 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Cougars outscored the Rebels 30-23 to earn the win.

Tate Felder pumped in a game-high 21 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead BA. Luke Jackson chipped in with 13 points. Dylan Winborne netted 10 points. Ross Felder provided six points. Dawson Flowers scored five points and had four rebounds. Ethan Nations was the leader on the boards with eight rebounds and he scored five points. Colton Watson and Austin Smith had four points apiece.

Mason Conerly directed the Rebels’ offense with 12 points. Ashton Blanche contributed eight points. Brently Coley had six points.

 In junior high action, BA split with ASC.

The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Cougars 33-24. Mary Claire Aiken led the Lady Rebels with 14 points.

Julianna Bartram directed the Lady Cougars with 11 points. Macey Grace Smith provided seven points.

In boys’ action, BA won 59-28 over ASC. Dawson Flowers led the Cougars with 16 points. Cade Brown contributed 13 points. Tanner Thurman had 10 points.
