West Lincoln sweeps Puckett

West Lincoln knocked off the Puckett Wolves Tuesday night to capture a pair of wins.

In girls’ action, the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Wolves 64-40.

In the boys’ contest, the Bears outscored the Wolves 12-3 in overtime to claim a 74-65 win.

West Lincoln will resume action Thursday as it hosts the Lincoln County tournament. The Bears and Lady Bears will battle Loyd Star at 7 and 8:30 p.m.

Lady Bears 64, Lady Wolves 40 

The Lady Bears quickly hammered the Lady Wolves in the first half to take a commanding 42-11 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Puckett outscored West Lincoln 29-22.

“Our defensive pressure really helped our offense in the first half,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. “We shot the ball well. It was good to get everybody involved playing tonight.”

Jana Case powered the Lady Bears with 19 points and five rebounds. Hanna Moak chipped in with 11 points and had six rebounds. Alli Mullins netted seven points. Layton Sills and Carly Holden provided six points each. Demesha Deer scored five points. Skylar Hall had four points. Morgan Newman, Megan Gerald and Destiny Williams had two points each. Gerald was the leader on the boards with eight rebounds.

Macy Salers and Beyouce Purvis paced the Lady Wolves scoring with eight points each.

West Lincoln 74, Puckett 65 

West Lincoln took a 39-31 lead into halftime, but Puckett battled back to outscore West Lincoln 31-23 to tie the game at 62-all to force overtime.

In overtime, West Lincoln exploded with a 12-3 run to clinch the win.

“We played really well in overtime to get the win,” said Young. “Keshaun played his best game of the year.”

Keshaun London pumped in a game-high 30 points and had eight rebounds to lead the Bears. Ronnie Edwards chipped in with 14 points. Le’Darrius Jones provided 12 points. Dontaerrius Taylor netted nine points and had seven rebounds. Adam Martinez had seven points and Dominique Chism scored two points.

Jack Anderson paced the Wolves’ attack with 24 points.

In girls’ junior varsity action, West Lincoln defeated Puckett 33-23. Megan Gerald directed the Lady Bears with 10 points. Skylar Hall scored nine points.
