Bears claim tournament crown; Lady Jackets win

The West Lincoln Bears knocked off the Enterprise Jackets 66-31 Saturday to win their fifth Lincoln County Tournament title in six years.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Jackets defeated the Lady Bears 60-42.

The Bears (8-5) came out on fire on the final day of the tournament as they hammered the Jackets (6-4) to take a commanding 41-18 lead into halftime.

In the second half, West Lincoln outscored Enterprise 25-21 to secure the win.

“Our seniors did great job leading us defensively tonight and we made a lot of open shots,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. “I am proud of the guys.”

Keshaun London powered the Bears’ attack with 20 points, four rebounds and four assists. Donterrius Taylor chipped in 19 points and five rebounds. Ronnie Edwards netted 17 points and was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds. Adam Martinez scored five points. Le’Darrius Jones had three points and Landon Lynch added two points.

Jontavious Smith directed the Jackets’ scoring with 12 points. Dewayne Pendleton contributed 10 points. Austin Carter scored four points. Cade Feltus had three points and Peyton Jergins added two points.

Lady Jackets 60, Lady Bears 42 

Enterprise took a 28-24 lead into halftime and outscored the Lady Bears 32-18 in the second half to clinch the win.

“Our girls never really got into the game,” said Young. “It’s my fault they weren’t ready to play.”

Jana Case was the top scorer for the Lady Bears with 20 points and seven rebounds. Demeshia Deer scored seven points and had four steals. Carly Holden provided six points, three rebounds and three steals. Brenn Bateman had four points. Skylar Hall and Alli Mullins added two points each.

The Lady Jackets had three players to score in double figures with Michelle Herrington leading the charge with 20 points. Courtney Greer chipped in with 14 points. Alisa Barlow netted 10 points. Carlee Nations, Karlee Burgess and Jana Nations scored four points each. Haley Nations and Monisha Pendleton had two points each.
