Funeral services for Doris Jane Britt were 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Wesson with burial in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Chris DeGeorge will be officiating the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 from 2 p.m. until time of services at the church.

Mrs. Britt, 96, of Wesson, died Dec. 18, 2015 at Country Brook Living Center in Brookhaven. She was born Oct. 22, 1919 in Oak Grove, Louisiana, to Bob and Sarah Sharplin Mathis.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending the B.A.L.L. Club meetings at her church, and loved cooking for and visiting with her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Sarah Sharplin Mathis; her husband, M. D. Britt; sons, Robert B. Britt and Eddie Britt; brothers, Robert Mathis, J. P. Mathis, George E. Mathis and Major Cleve Mathis; and sisters, Rebecca Ann Mathis, Bethel Ann Rutledge, Betty Lee Mathis and Maryjane Mathis.

Survivors are her daughters, Barbara Britt Gomez of Omaha, Nebraska, Beverly Britt of Brookhaven and Debra Britt Fuller and husband, Rodney, of Wesson; sons, Kenneth Britt and wife, Joanne, of Wesson, Micheal Wayne Britt and wife, Doris, of Brookhaven, Danny R. Britt and wife, Peggy, of Wesson and Sammy Britt of Utica; sisters, Betty Smith and Pauline Cunningham; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
