Funeral services for Charles Shelby Smith are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is from 12 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday, at Riverwood.

Mr. Smith, 77, of Brookhaven, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at Baptist Hospital. He was born on Oct. 3, 1938, to Charles H. Smith and Martha Jane Smith.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and served as president of Local Machinist Union and Ole Miss Alumni.

He worked at Homelite Jacobsen as a journeyman tool and die maker for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Smith; daughter, Sherry Smith Britt; son-in-law, Alton Britt; sister, Christine Eakes; brother-in-law, Tommy Eakes; granddaughter, Shelly Britt Price and husband, Robert; grandson, Charles Jimmy “C.J.”  Britt; great-granddaughter, Riley Ann Price; and a host of nieces and nephews.
