Mobley leads Tennessee-Martin past Alcorn State

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) – Jacolby Mobley scored 16 points and Tennessee-Martin won its fourth-straight game with a 70-47 victory over Alcorn State Monday night.

Myles Taylor added 11 points and Twymond Howard had 11 rebounds for Tennessee-Martin (6-7).

Taylor scored the Skyhawks’ first seven points with three jumpers and a free throw to give his team a 7-6 lead it would not relinquish. Mobley hit a 3 sandwiched between two Alex Anderson’s 3s, and a Mobley tip in pushed the score to 19-8 with 7:14 remaining in the first half.

After a 36-18 lead at the break, Tennessee-Martin kept the pressure on, starting with Taylor again with a tip-in basket and two free throws to make it 40-20 with 16:33 to play.

Reginald Johnson and Tyrel Hunt scored nine points apiece to lead Alcorn State (1-9). Octavius Brown finished with 10 rebounds for the Braves.
