Panthers beat Vicksburg; NW Rankin defeats Lady Panthers

BRANDON – The Brookhaven Panthers knocked off the Vicksburg Gators 58-44 Monday night in the Northwest Rankin Holiday tournament to remain undefeated on the season with an 11-0 record.

In girls’ action, the Northwest Rankin Lady Cougars defeated the Brookhaven Lady Panthers 54-23.

Brookhaven continues action today in the tournament as the Lady Panthers take on Madison Central at 11 a.m. The Panthers will battle Quitman at 3:30 p.m.

Brookhaven 58, Vicksburg 44 

Brookhaven took a slim 18-17 lead into halftime, then outscored the Gators 17-9 to push its lead to 35-26 at the end of the third.

In the fourth quarter, Brookhaven won the scoring battle 23-18 to secure the victory.

The Panthers had three players to score in double figures as Shon Blackwell led the charge with 16 points. Damarius Brooks chipped in with 14 points. Lazorian McNulty netted 12 points. Garrick Smith provided six points and was the leader on the boards with six rebounds. Darrian Wilson and Danarius Gray contributed four points each. Darius Bryant had two points.
