Panthers cruise past Quitman
Madison Central beats Lady Panthers
BRANDON – The undefeated Brookhaven Panthers (12-0) proved to be the dominate cat as they roared past the Quitman Panthers Tuesday to claim a 80-49 victory in the Northwest Rankin Holiday tournament.
In girls’ action, Madison Central thumped the Brookhaven Lady Panthers 62-33.
Brookhaven will return to action Saturday as it hosts the Lawrence County Cougars at Sinclair Gymnasium. The junior varsity boys will start the action at 4 p.m. The girls will tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the boys at 6:30 p.m.
Brookhaven 80, Quitman 49
The Ole Brook Panthers crushed Quitman early to claim a 27-13 lead in the first and cruised to an 46-30 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Brookhaven was too much for Quitman to handle as Ole Brook put together a 34-19 run in the final two quarters to secure the win.
Brookhaven had four players to score in double figures as Darrian Wilson led the explosion with 20 points and seven rebounds. Damarius Brooks chipped in 19 points, six rebounds, three steals and seven assists. Darius Bryant had a double-double night of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lazorian McNulty contributed 10 points. Shon Blackwell provided nine points. Marte Jones scored five points. Garrick Smith had two points and Danarius Gray added one point.
