Lady Jackets crush Ben’s Ford

COLUMBIA – The Columbia Academy Cougars knocked off the Enterprise Yellow Jackets to claim two wins Wednesday night in Columbia’s Holiday Tournament.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Cougars clipped the Lady Jackets to secure a 43-40 victory.

In boys’ action, Columbia Academy defeated Enterprise 64-47.

In Monday’s contest, the Lady Jackets crushed Ben’s Ford 62-26.

The Lady Jackets will return to Columbia Saturday to battle the Bowling Green Lady Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m.

Enterprise will be in action Tuesday as the Jackets and Lady Jackets travel to Bogue Chitto to battle the Bobcats in three games. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Lady Cougars 43, Lady Jackets 40

The Lady Jackets and the Lady Cougars of Columbia battled in a close contest as Columbia Academy took a 25-20 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Jackets outscored the Lady Cougars 20-18 in the final two quarters but fell short in their comeback.

Alissa Barlow powered the Lady Jackets’ offense with 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Carlee Beth Nations chipped in 10 points, four rebounds and three steals. Michelle Herrington netted three points and gathered eight rebounds. Courtney Greer, Karlee Burgess and Monisha Pendleton scored two points each. Jana Nations had one point. Pendleton also had six rebounds.

Madison McDaniel and Morgan Jones were the top scorers for the Columbia Academy Lady Cougars with 10 points apiece. Alex Anthony contributed eight points. Lauren Rawley scored six points.

Columbia Acad. 64, Enterprise 47 

The Columbia Academy Cougars quickly jumped on the Enterprise Jackets in the first half and carried a 35-21 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Enterprise won the scoring battle 31-29, but it was not enough as the Cougars clinched the win.

Dewayne Pendleton was the offensive leader for the Jackets with 21 points. Jontavious Smith contributed 14 points. Darren Richardson provided seven points. Cade Feltus scored three points and Zach Hodges had two points.

Wiley Cleland pumped in a game-high 23 points to lead the Cougars. LJ Coleman chipped in 20 points. Owen Harper provided 10 points. Shea Stringer scored six points.

Lady Jackets 62, Lady Eagles 26 

The Lady Jackets dominated the Ben’s Ford Lady Eagles in Monday’s contest. Enterprise blasted the Lady Eagles in the first half to take a comfortable 40-6 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Jackets put together a 22-18 run in the final two periods to capture the win.

Breyuanna Johnson powered the Lady Jackets’ offensive attack with 12 points. Brittany Barnett fueled the flames with 10 points. Courtney Greer contributed nine points. Haley Nations and Alissa Barlow netted seven points each. Jana Nations scored five points. Brooke Foster had four points. Monisha Pendleton, Karlee Burgess and Kristina Diamond added two points apiece. Michelle Herrington had one point.

Allison Forbes directed the Lady Eagles with seven points. Addison Seal provided six points and Olivia Miley scored five points.
