Jackson State cruises past SE Louisiana

JACKSON (AP) – Paris Collins scored 22 points, Raeford Worsham had 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Jackson State beat Southeastern Louisiana 89-66 on Wednesday night.

Kaven Bernard added 21 points for Jackson State (5-8), while Janarius Middleton chipped in 12 points and had six assists. The Tigers snapped a two-game losing skid and are 4-0 at home.

Zay Jackson had 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting with three 3-pointers to lead Southeastern Louisiana (2-11), which has lost five straight and are 0-8 on the road.

Bernard scored 14 points and Collins added 11 as the Tigers built a 45-34 halftime lead. Jackson State stretched its lead to 73-50 with seven minutes left and cruised from there.

The Tigers host Alabama State on Saturday to open its Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule.

Southeastern Louisiana plays visiting Stephen F. Austin in its Southland Conference opener on Saturday.
