Jackets split with Bobcats

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats were victorious over the Enterprise Lady Jackets 43-33 Tuesday night in non-district action at the Bobcat Palace.

In the boys’ contest, the Enterprise Jackets defeated the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 81-75.

Zariah Matthews led the surge for the Lady Cats as she pumped in 15 points to end the game. Both Bogue Chitto and Enterprise struggled in the first half of play, but the Lady Cats put together a big run in the third quarter to clinch the win.

In the fourth period, the Lady Jackets attempted to make a comeback, but failed as they just did not have enough manpower.

Matthews directed the Lady Cats with 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Taneshia May contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Shay Jefferson had eight points and three rebounds. Karlie Williams scored six points and had four rebounds. Terrah Nelson finished with three points and three rebounds. Christian Black had two points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Jackets were led by Courtney Greer with 10 points. Michelle Herrington and Alissa Barlow chipped in six points apiece. Carlee Nations score four points and Haley Nations had two points.

Enterprise 81, Bogue Chitto 75 

“We played a heck of a ballgame tonight. Our boys on defense did just what they had to do for us to be productive on the offensive end of the court. We are moving in the right direction as the season progresses,” said Bogue Chitto coach Mark Pitts.

D.J. Nunnery powered the Bobcats with a team-high 29 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Brumfield chipped in with 21 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Malik Richardson had 11 points and four rebounds.

For the Yellow Jackets, Dewayne Pendleton pumped in a game-high 40 points. Zach Hodges contributed 17 points. Darren Richardson provided 11 points and Jontavious Smith had six points.

In the JV action,  the Lady Cats prevailed 37-21 over the Lady Jackets.

Baleigh Jackson led the Lady Cats in scoring with 11 points. Both Tukiyah Godbolt and Karly Leake had six points. Kylie Hux had two points as well.

For the Lady Jackets, Brooke Foster was the top scorer with eight points. Eden Ward scored five points. Brittney Barnett had four points and Monisha Pendleton added two points.

Bogue Chitto continues action Friday as it hosts the Franklin County Bulldogs for three games. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Enterprise will also be in action Friday as it begins division play. The Jackets and the Lady Jackets will host the Bassfield Yellowjackets for three games. Junior varsity tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.
