Funeral services for Reggie Ray Berry were Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at Saulters-Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss with burial in New Hebron Cemetery. Bro. Dan Ainsworth, Bro. Terry Phillips and Bro. Sonny Adkins officiated the funeral services, and Bro. Terry Wallace and Bro. Michael Giles officiated the graveside services. Pallbearers were Wayde Benson, Larry Henderson, Bill Little, Donald Cole, Creston Berch and Dennis Berch. Honorary pallbearers were retired and active Mississippi Highway Patrolmen. The Mississippi Highway Patrol Honor Guard gave an impressive presentation of the 21-Gun Salute and “Taps” in honor of Reggie’s 30 years of service. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Berry, 72, of New Hebron, died Jan. 1, 2016 at Regency Hospital in Hattiesburg after a five-year battle with Myelodysplasia Syndrome. He was born Aug. 13, 1943 in New Hebron to Reggie Dennis Berry and Mattie Slay Berry. He was a retired Mississippi Highway Patrolman. He was a member of Old Hebron Baptist Church and served six years in the Mississippi Army National Guard.

He was a highly respected Mississippi Highway Patrolman, working in the Hattiesburg District. After retiring, Reggie worked at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home for 17 years before his diagnosis of MDS which led to a bone marrow transplant at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas in 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Diann (Beeson) Berry; his son, Russ Berry; and sister, Faye Berch, all of New Hebron.
