Jackson State beats Alcorn State

LORMAN (AP) — Paris Collins scored 26 points, and his 3 with 0.2 seconds left forced overtime as Jackson State went on to win its fourth-straight game, 80-71 over Alcorn State on Saturday.

Collins scored half of Jackson State’s 12 points in overtime and the Braves only scored a field goal in the extra session.

The Tigers led Alcorn State 58-50 with 7:35 to play in the game, but the Braves used an 18-7 run to take a 68-65 lead before Collins’ forced the extra session.

Raeford Worsham had 21 points and 12 rebounds for Jackson State (8-8, 3-0 Southwestern Athletic). Chace Franklin added 11 points, and Jackson State shot 10 for 21 from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Tigers are 1-2 in overtime this season. Jackson State led 42-35 at the half.

The Braves (3-10, 1-1) got 14 points apiece from Devonte Hampton and Tamarcio Wilson.
